An education crisis that can be fixed during coronavirus

The coronavirus pandemic is putting some Americans on the edge of financial ruin. We can only hope that the suffering will end soon.

We must do more, however, than just hope that our children’s education will not be further harmed. It appears now that schools may not be able to open in the fall. We must ensure, between now and then, that all students have the technology and other assets they need to learn individually at home. Some students have not been able to participate at all in classroom alternatives. Some are apparently being left behind. This is a crises that can be fixed.

The education establishment must act promptly to make certain all students have what they need by the fall semester. I do not sense that this problem is getting the urgent attention required. The students’ education should have a high priority.
